MD Spicer-Sitzes

MD Spicer-Sitzes (p. they/she) is an accomplished writer, educator, and organizer with success building strong communications, relationships and capacity via strategic implementation of equitable frameworks. Methods include: user centered design, action research, sustainable work culture design, and an overall expansive, creative approach to communications.
MD holds a master’s degree in Urban Sustainability. In addition to being a co-founder and initial communications designer at The L.A. Coop Lab in Los Angeles, MD has worked with organizations & institutions including: Alliance for Girls, The Body Positive, Right to the City Alliance, The Association of Arizmendi Cooperatives, USC, Occidental University, UCLA, Antioch University Los Angeles, and more. In 2015 MD received an award from the City of Los Angeles for helping launch St. John’s Transgender Right to Wellness Committee in South L.A., and in 2018 MD developed a workshop teaching health industry professionals how to create LGBTQ+ fertility affirmative policies and programs. MD is married and a toddler twin parent. Born in Bucyrus and raised in Columbus, MD is so excited to bring expertise back home, and to lead communications at Equality Ohio!
