Morgan Zickes (she/her/hers) serves as a public policy manager at Equality Ohio, supporting the organization in coalition building, legislative advocacy, and policy strategy at the statewide level.
Before joining Equality Ohio in April of 2024, Morgan worked in the Ohio Senate, first as a Legislative Service Commission Fellow, and then as a legislative aide to State Senator Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo). She was a field organizer in Lucas County during the 2022 campaign cycle, working to build community coalitions and elect Ohio Democrats up and down the ballot. She brings her knowledge of Ohio’s legislative and political affairs from this professional background to her analysis and advocacy efforts in this role.
Morgan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Toledo in August 2022, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Public Administration. During her undergraduate years there she led the campaign to found a university chapter of the national nonprofit organization, Camp Kesem. She then served as the newly founded chapter’s outreach coordinator. She also volunteered for various local and national political campaigns throughout her college career.
A lifelong Ohioan from the Toledo area, Morgan now lives in Columbus. She enjoys exploring art museums, reading, gardening, watching stand-up comedy, birdwatching, and caring for her pet tarantulas, named Thelma and Louise.
