Equality Ohio Announces 2024 Advocates & Allies Awards Ceremony and Annual Fundraiser

Event Marks First Public Appearance with New Executive Director Dwayne Steward 

COLUMBUS, OHIO—Equality Ohio is excited to announce the 2024 Advocates & Allies Awards Ceremony & Annual Fundraiser, set to take place on October 24, 2024, at the LeVee event center in the Franklinton community of Columbus. This year’s event marks the first public appearance of Equality Ohio’s new Executive Director, Dwayne Steward, and will honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to advancing LGBTQ+ rights in Ohio.

Advocates & Allies has been restructured this year to better reflect Equality Ohio’s commitment to centering the contributions of LGBTQ+ Ohioans. We are proud to launch exciting changes, including the following all new award categories: Organization of the Year Award, Legal Advocate of the Year, Ally of the Year, Statehouse Advocate Award, Local Champion Award, and the Queer Joy Award. 

“We are thrilled to host the 2024 Advocates & Allies celebration in Columbus, especially with the introduction of exciting new award categories that capture our vision of building an Ohio where everyone thrives,” said MD Sitzes, Communications Manager at Equality Ohio. “Under the leadership of our new Executive Director, Dwayne Steward, this year’s event promises to be a can’t-miss evening for LGBTQ+ Ohioans and our allies.”

The Advocates & Allies Awards Ceremony will bring together community members, professionals, and supporters from across Ohio for an evening of celebration, inspiration, and connection. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet honorees, engage with local and state leadership, and support the ongoing work of Equality Ohio in building lived and legal equality for LGBTQ+ people across the state.
